Our story

Eva Bertelli, an Italian textile designer who chose craft over fast fashion

I am Eva, and I grew up in Rome. I studied fashion design at the Academy of Fine Arts and specialized in textile design, which has always been my real passion. A scholarship took me to Lyon to experiment with tie-dye, then a master in sustainable fashion opened up the world of natural dye and certifications. I am endlessly curious, so I took every exchange I could: Slovakia for textile, eight months in Taiwan among technical fabrics and factories. Wherever I went, I looked for the local craft.

Then I moved to Germany and worked as a product manager in womenswear and menswear. I learned the industry and fast fashion from the inside, but it was not for me.

It was not for me, I felt like in a cage, the environment was really toxic. I always had a passion for handicraft, that was the reality. So I decided to move to Jaipur and learn about the traditional handicraft of this amazing country.

In Jaipur, volunteering in a guest house, another passion came back. I started using my languages and taking travellers on walking tours in the early morning: the flower market, the temples, the puja ceremony. People loved seeing the city in a different way. Then came the food tours, with the addresses I trust. Slowly, an idea grew: I could take people on real journeys across India, to the places I had come to know.

And because I went to Jaipur for the craft, I kept learning block print and natural dye, and started inviting travellers to practise with me. Then designers began asking for help with their collections, sizing and production. So I added that too.

That mix is exactly what IndiAmo Travels is. The name is Italian: India, "amo" (I love), and "andiamo" (let's go). India, I love it, let's go. What I offer is rare: textile craft and slow, human travel under one roof, led by someone who has lived both. Not the postcard India, but the real one: the markets, the dyes, the food, the people. An experience, I have always believed, is worth more than anything else.

My journey, in the end, is a mix of handicraft and tourism, it's all together.

Their words

If you want to actually see the country, not just the tourist traps, the food tour was a total game-changer. A guide who feels more like a local friend with a ton of passion.

Travellers on IndiAmo

We were worried it might be just another typical tourist tour, but instead it was rich in local experiences and genuine contact with the real India.

Good to know

Frequently asked

Who leads the tours?

Every experience is led by Eva Bertelli, the founder, an Italian textile designer who lives in Jaipur. She speaks English, Italian, French and German, and switches languages to make you feel at ease.

Is the street food safe?

Yes. The food tours only use places Eva has tested herself and trusts. As one traveller put it, the food tour was a total game-changer. You eat where locals eat, safely.

How do I book?

The fastest way is WhatsApp at +39 334 753 6288. You can also use the contact form. We reply in English, Italian, French or German, usually within a day.

Are the experiences for solo travellers, groups or families?

All of them. Eva welcomes solo travellers, including women travelling alone, small groups and families. Reviews repeatedly mention feeling safe, welcome and at home.

What is a block print or natural dye workshop like?

You work with your hands. In the block print workshop you ink and stamp your own fabric. In the natural dye workshop you dye it, from indigo to plant colour. You take your piece home. Eva learned both from local artisans in Jaipur.

Where do the tours go?

Jaipur is the base. From there, experiences reach across Rajasthan and North India: the stepwells of Dausa, valley tours, multi-day journeys off the beaten path.

How much does it cost?

Experiences are built around what you want, so the best way to get a price is to message Eva on WhatsApp with your dates and ideas. She replies with a clear quote.

I am a designer. Can you help with textile production?

Yes. Beyond travel, Eva offers textile production consulting for designers and makers: sizing, pricing and production follow-up in India. It is a separate service from the travel experiences.

Ready to see the real India?

Tell Eva your dates and what you dream of seeing. She replies in your language, usually within a day.
